Elvis Presley was one of the most popular American singers of the 20th century.  He was a cultural icon who had a versatile voice and stage presence.  Elvis earned wide success for his ability to encompass many genres of music including country, pop, gospel, blues and rockabilly.  Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi and moved with his family at the age of thirteen to Memphis, Tennessee.  His music career began in 1954 when he began working with Sam Phillips, the owner of Sun Records and was accompanied by guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black.  Presley became one of the originators of rockabilly and RCA Victor acquired his first contract in a deal arranged by Colonel Tom Parker in 1956 with his first single, "Heartbreak Hotel".  Elvis became the leading figure of rock-n-roll with his series of television appearances, Hollywood films and chart-topping records.  Presley died at Graceland on August 16, 1977 at the age of forty-two.

John Lennon was an English musician and singer-songwriter who rose to worldwide fame as one of the founding members of The Beatles.  The band became one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed acts in the history of popular music.  Along with Paul McCartney, he formed one of the most successful songwriting partnerships of the 20th century.  John Lennon was born and raised in Liverpool, England where he formed his first band, The Quarrymen which evolved into The Beatles in 1960.  The band was rooted in skiffle and rock-n-roll and grew to include many genres from pop ballads to psychedelic rock.  After the Beatles disbanded in 1970, Lennon embarked on a solo career with such iconic songs as "Give Peace A Chance" & "Imagine" which became anthems of peace during the anti-war movement.  Lennon’s life was cut short at the young age of forty, when he was murdered by a deranged fan outside his apartment building in New York City on December 8, 1980.  He was posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987 & the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.

Jim Morrison was the lead singer and lyricist of the popular rock band, The Doors who exploded onto the L.A. scene during the "Summer of Love" in 1967.  Morrison was known for often improvising spoken word poetry passages while the band played live.  He is regarded by critics and fans alike as one of the most iconic, charismatic pioneering frontmen in rock history.  The Doors released a string of successful multi-platinum albums with Elektra Records.  Some of these albums include The Doors, Strange Days, Waiting For the Sun, The Soft Parade and L.A. Woman to name a few.  Jim Morrison died in Paris, France at the age of twenty-seven years-old and is buried in the famous Pere Lachaise Cemetery.  In 1993, the Doors were enshrined into the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame.

Clint Eastwood is an American film actor, director, producer, composer and politician.  Eastwood rose to fame in Hollywood for his leading masculine roles in western films, along with several others where he played tough-talking no-nonsense characters.  This is a digital oil painting I created of Clint Eastwood from his film, "A Fistful of Dollars".
