About my work
The process of creating an original pen & ink illustration begins first on 14"x17" paper. Every drawing starts with both a horizontal and vertical line and the illustration blossoms outward from the center. Once the basic skeleton of the design is complete, I go over it with a collection of finely tipped Pigma micron pens. The pens range in size from .005 mm to .08 mm and leave a fine, crisp line. The third step involves using various techniques of cross-hatching, stippling and the addition of the fine detail seen in the architecture and surrounding landscape. Finally, I review the drawing adding any additional details and erasing the pencil lines beneath the ink. Each illustration takes between 20-40 hours to complete depending upon the detail involved. Prints of the illustrations are available for sale in the Gallery Navigation to the right. The original illustrations which I store privately may be offered for sale at a negotiated price.
